Experience carried forward.

The following portfolio brings together projects undertaken through Lighting Designers India (LDI) and the wider professional experience now represented by HALO Design Collective FZE LLC. Project credits and confidentiality requirements should be retained when individual case studies are expanded.

Rebrand note: Lighting Designers India (LDI) has been rebranded as HALO Design Collective FZE LLC. Legacy imagery may retain historic LDI branding where it forms part of the original project documentation.

Detailed case studies

How we think, test and document.

These expanded examples illustrate the consultant’s role behind the final image: interpreting architecture, establishing criteria, testing options and translating the chosen strategy into coordinated information.

Consultancy focusInterior, feature and display lighting
LegacyLDI portfolio project

Design challenge

The architecture uses a strong timber ceiling and wall language. The lighting needed to strengthen this geometry without competing with the vehicles, brand elements or customer-facing displays.

Lighting response

  • Continuous linear lighting follows the architectural ribs to create direction and visual rhythm.
  • Display and vehicle zones receive focused, higher-output layers while circulation remains visually quieter.
  • Warm architectural light balances the timber finishes, with neutral display light maintaining accurate product colour.

Consultant analysis

Typical studies include calculation grids at vehicle and circulation level, reflected-glare checks on bodywork, beam-angle testing, colour-temperature coordination and emergency-light integration. Control zoning separates presentation, cleaning, event and after-hours scenes.

Typical deliverables

Concept narrative, ceiling coordination, lighting layout, fixture schedule, scene schedule, calculation report, details and aiming notes.

Public realm case study

Community Bridge

LocationUnited Arab Emirates
TypologyPedestrian connection
Consultancy focusIntegrated low-level lighting
LegacyLDI portfolio project

Design challenge

The bridge required safe, legible movement without introducing bright columns, glare or visual disturbance to the surrounding night environment.

Lighting response

  • Light is integrated into the balustrade, keeping the source below normal viewing angles.
  • A warm, continuous layer defines the crossing and reinforces the structure’s material character.
  • Low-level distribution limits upward spill and preserves the dark sky.

Consultant analysis

The assessment considers maintained horizontal illuminance, uniformity, facial recognition, source visibility, handrail-detail tolerances, waterproofing, driver location, thermal performance and maintenance access. Boundary spill and ecological sensitivity are reviewed where applicable.

Typical deliverables

Photometric study, section details, coordinated balustrade interface, IP/IK requirements, cable routing, control schedule and site aiming/verification record.

Private Building

TypologyCommercial façade
Consultancy focusNight-time identity
LegacyLDI portfolio project

Design challenge

The design needed a recognisable night-time signature using the building’s existing geometry, while avoiding excessive brightness and visible equipment.

Lighting response

  • Linear accents trace selected horizontal and vertical edges rather than outlining every façade element.
  • Hierarchy is created by reinforcing the corner and upper silhouette.
  • Mounting locations are aligned with joints and architectural recesses to reduce daytime visibility.

Consultant analysis

Façade luminance, surface brightness, viewing distance, source spacing and potential hotspots are studied. Environmental-zone limits, spill light, driver visibility, access strategy and control curfew are also considered.

Typical deliverables

Night-time concept views, façade elevations, luminance study, mounting details, cable routes, control scenes, product specification and mock-up criteria.

Hospitality case study

Private Resort

LocationRas Al Khaimah, UAE
TypologyHospitality interior
Consultancy focusGuest experience and ambience
LegacyLDI portfolio project

Design challenge

The public areas required warmth, intimacy and visual richness while maintaining operational light levels for reception, circulation and service activities.

Lighting response

  • Concealed perimeter light lifts the timber ceiling and establishes the primary ambient layer.
  • Decorative pendants and joinery lighting create human-scale focal points.
  • Downlights are limited and precisely located to support task areas, artwork and planting.

Consultant analysis

We review colour rendering, skin appearance, dimming behaviour, reflective surfaces, decorative fixture output, emergency-light coordination and scene transitions from daytime arrival to late-night operation.

Typical deliverables

Room-by-room lighting intent, reflected ceiling plans, decorative schedule, control scenes, calculations, details, sample review, mock-up and final focusing.
